TV Theme Song Throwback Thursdays!

Duck Tales (1987-1990)

Possibly the greatest cartoon theme song ever…certainly one of the best. How can you not sing along to this classic Disney anthem? Okay, everybody…sing with me!

“Duck Tales!  Wooo…Ooooh!”

The Drew Carey Show (1995-2004)

How much fun did the cast have making this little clip? I’m actually jealous!  Never watched the show, but it had one helluva theme song and intro. And it featured my beloved Christa Miller (Jordan in Scrubs & Ellie in Cougar Town). Kudos to The Presidents Of The United States Of America for drafting such a catchy ditty! And might i add, that Cleveland does actually ROCK - which was suuch a pleasant surprise when i visited!

The Price Is Right (1972-present)

I absolutely LOVED the entire “COME ON DOWN” intro. SO much fun! Almost as fun as the huge spinning wheel spinoff to see which contestant headed to the showcase showdown! And the theme song speaks for itself. A classic.  And for funzies, here’s the clip of Bob Barker and Adam Sandler slappin each other around in Happy Gilmore. (click here for the clip).

Press Your Luck (1983-1986)

Hands down my favorite game show growing up. It had everything. Loud, spazztic, shrieking contestants…pop culture trivia questions that gave contestants spins…spins that resulted in trips to exotic lands, or even better…BIG BUCKS! But those same spins could also bring forth the coolest and most creative game show characters in recent memory…the WHAMMY! Sure they’d sometimes come out dressed like Boy George, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper or Tina Turner but they’d leave you penniless once you landed on their image on the big board.  For some of the most hilarious and memorable Whammy appearances (click here).

Dead Like Me (2003-2004)

In celebration of the upcoming Halloween holiday, i’ve decided to select a little watched show only seen by Showtime audiences that was so brilliantly funny and dark - it amazes me it only lasted for two seasons. The unique thing about the main characters on Dead Like Me is that they are all dead. Or rather UN-DEAD. And they roamed the streets of Seattle taking the souls of soon to be dead people. In other words…they were modern day grim reapers.

This show was so damn creative and entertaining i cannot encourage you enough to watch the 24 episodes on Netflix immediately. You won’t be disappointed, i promise.  Unless gravelings start appearing that is…  =)

The A-Team (1983-1987)

I pity the fool who doesn’t love this iconic 80’s tv theme song! I was a little bit shocked to see the show only ran for a little over four years…just seemed longer.

Mama’s Family (1983-1990)

Oh, that horrible horrible wig Vicky Lawrence wore each week. But god was she funny. What originally was part of a sketch comedy from The Carol Burnette Show turned into seven seasons of hilarity for Thelma and her family. Cooky, corny, hokey but mostly just downright funny.

Doogie Howser, M.D. (1989-1993)

The show that launched the career of one Neil Patrick Harris. Child prodigy jumps head first into the medical world with hilarious consequences and many adolescent rites of passage occurring outside of the normal childhood setting. Great show!

Inspector Gadget (1983-1986)

Ahhh, how i miss the daily mysteries given to the quirky but lovable Inspector Gadget to solve.  Unknowingly assisted by his brainiac niece, Penny and her dog (aptly named), Brain, Gadget always caught his man. The hijinx along the way though was always entertaining (Brain dressing up in drag was always particularly funny - especially when Gadget would refer to the canine as Miss or Madame).

The cartoon had one of the more notable villains of our time in Dr. Claw. And without a doubt, it was home to one of the best cartoon theme songs EVER.

TV Theme Song Throwback Thursdays!

LA Law - (1986-1994)

The television show that made me want to become a lawyer when i grew up…until i worked in an actual LA law firm. And that was the end of that lunacy. Eeesh, no thank you. Still, the shenanigans of the employees of McKenzie, Brackman, Chaney and Kuzak were so intellectually scandalous, i couldn’t wait for Thursday night to come so i could watch. Does anybody remember when Rosalind Shays (played by Diana Muldaur) met her demise by falling down an elevator shaft?   Just awesome. It was crap like that which made LA Law a four-time Emmy winner for Best Drama. I jest.
